Elijah Cottingham (1814-1882)
Elijah Cottingham was born in Delaware as the son of Joshua Cottingham and Elizabeth Cowan. Elijah migrated to Indiana in 1823 with his parents and grandfather, Elijah Cottingham, finally settling in Hamilton County in the spring of 1824. He first married Elizabeth Mahan on February 1, 1835, who died three years later. Elijah then married his second wife, Elizabeth Osenbach Fryberger, on December 11, 1851.He was at first a farmer and then in his later years he became an engineer and surveyor. The photo to the left is a daguerreotype probably taken before 1850.

   
Charles John Cottingham Charles John Cottingham (1856-1935)
C.J. was born in Noblesville, Indiana as the son of Elijah Cottingham and Elizabeth Osenbach Fryberger. He married Helen Massey (1860-1932) on June 23, 1880. Helen was a granddaughter of William Conner, who founded Noblesville. Charles John served as Noblesville's City Engineer for forty years.

Niles Cottingham family portrait Ichobod Niles Cottingham (1842-1914)
Niles was born in Morse Hill, Indiana as the son of Blythe Cottingham and Tacy Sheldon. He married Melissa Molar in 1866 and died in Philbrook, Mn. During the Civil War he was an Indian fighter against the Sioux Tribe. He served in the Lesuer Tigers under Gen. Sibley and in the St. Paul Frontier Guard, fighting in the Battle of New Ulm in 1862. Niles served as Justice of the Peace and as Chairman of Township Board of Supervisors.
